bringing a little bunny cheer to NICU babies this Spring!
When brainstorming Spring designs, I couldn't believe I hadn't made Easter bunny preemie beanies yet! Decided to embellish them with little blooms for the girls, and to leave some plain for the boys. You could embellish with anything your heart desires - I'm thinking bows, hearts, or more leaves!
For these beanies, I used Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8. I've been loving using 100% cotton as natural fibers are hypoallergenic and breathable for the babies. You could use any other worsted or sport weight baby yarn as well.
I'd love to hear where you are planning to donate your Snuggle Bunny Preemie Beanies in the comments!

Tie off, leaving an 8’’ tail for assembly.
Flower
With pink yarn, Ch 3. 2 Dc in the 3rd Ch from hook (this Ch will become the “center” of the flower). Ch 2, Sl St into the center. This creates the first petal. *Ch 2, 2 Dc, Ch 2, Sl St into the center.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times for a total of 5 petals. Tie off, leaving an 8’’ tail for assembly.
Leaf
With green yarn, Ch 6. Sc in the 2nd Ch from hook. Hdc in the next Ch. Dc in the next Ch. Hdc in the next Ch. Sc in the last Ch. Sl St into the same St. Tie off, leaving an 8’’ tail for assembly.
Assembly
Using a tapestry needle and the remaining yarn ends, attach the ears to the beanie between Rounds 2 and 3. I use a couple of whip stitches to secure the ear to the beanie. Tie off and weave in ends.
In the same fashion, attach the flower to the base of either ear, and the leaf beneath the flower. Tie off and weave in ends.
